Existing Conditions

There are various electric baseboard heaters and electric forced air heaters in the xxx building.  Electric resistance heating is a very expensive method of heating a building.

Retrofit Conditions

It is recommended that the electric heaters be replaced with Hunter natural gas fired baseboard heaters.  It is also recommended that the temperature of the space be reset to 15°C, using setback thermostats, during unoccupied periods.  This approach involves running natural gas lines around the outside of the building, and in through the wall at each heater location.  Each heater will also have a small flue pipe penetrating the exterior wall.

This technology is used where hydronic baseboard would be too expensive and external appearance is not a primary concern.
