Gas-Fired Infrared Heaters

Existing Conditions

There are several electric forced air heaters in xxx of this facility.  Electric resistance heating is a very expensive way to heat a building when natural gas is available.

Retrofit Conditions

It is recommended that low intensity natural gas fired tube heaters [high intensity natural gas fired quartz heaters] be installed to replace the electric forced air heaters.  This measure will result in reduced energy costs from the lower priced fuel.  In addition, infrared heat tends to be more economical because it heats only the interior surfaces; not the air.  Although these heaters are not suitable for a sustained sedentary occupancy like an office or home, they provide a comfort level that is more than adequate for this application.
