Eliminate City Water Cooling

Previous page Next page
  rev. 2008-11-25

Existing Conditions

There are currently several refrigeration units that use city water for cooling.

This wastes significant amounts of potable water directly to drain.

Aside from being very expensive, the practice of using city water for cooling is no longer allowed under municipal building codes.  Any new refrigeration system uses other ways to reject heat.

Retrofit Conditions

We recommend designing a closed-loop cooling system to pump water through the condensers and through a new air-cooled fluid cooler <in the underground parking garage> <on the roof> <outside by xxx>.  This will reject the heat of refrigeration without wasting water.
