A Waterless Urinal uses no water and has no moving parts. Urine flows into a trap, where it passes through a lighter-weight liquid and down the drain.

These units have to be cleaned regularly with a biodegradable spray cleaner, followed by sponge or “jonny-mop” wiping and drying.  In an average situation, the seal liquid has to be topped up every 3 months and the trap cartridge replaced every 6 months.

Waterless urinals are promoted as saving water, requiring less maintenance, and improving hygiene.
